By now everyone knows who won the 2015 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby. But Reds Third Baseman, Todd Frazier, still has a secret.<\/p>\n

Cincinnati.c<\/a>\"Todd<\/a>om<\/a> tells us that last July his trainer begged him to try out the largest bat on the squad, a 35-inch, 34-ounce monster Marucci bat. After a good warm-up and a solid outing with it, Frazier immediately ordered a large batch of these black gargantuans — and he’s never looked back.<\/p>\n

Monday night’s Home Run Derby victory was a reminder to him and his trainer that maybe trainers do know best, and that size does matter. In game action, the larger bat allows him to be more comfortable at the plate by backing off and still being able to reach the outside pitch.<\/p>\n

“(I) bait them to throw that outside pitch, because I can go the other way with the best of them. For me, if you want to throw it inside, I’m off the plate and I’ll tag it. If you want to throw it outside, I’ll get that extension and hopefully I’ll get that double down the line.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
